A very atmospheric title sequence that perfectly captures the mystery of the movie. All together very different from VooDooDog’s more recent animated title sequences…

Paul Donnellon: “The budget for this independent UK/Canadian mystery thriller was very modest, but we wanted to try to push our creativity into a more earthy filmed reality. We decided to story board and then shoot our sequence for real. Myself and designer Andrew White gathered together various objects that would fit in with the theme of this film. The opening of the film involves the discovery of a students body underneath the iced over river. We then embedded the objects such as the coins, the students’ I.D., into blocks of ice and filmed them with moody atmospheric lighting. The film set ups were decided by using still photos on set and camera angles worked out. Then the real ice was brought out and filmed quickly before the ice melted. Sometimes the lighting is moving and revealing the objects in a shadowy mysterious manner.”
