A special program on French title design 1950's -1980's, guest curated by Laure Chapalain with additional texts by Hervé Tissot. French cinema flourished during this period, which covers the broad possible spectrum of French cinema - from the revolutionary films of the French New Wave to the commercial French comedies that were popular throughout Europe in the 1970's. The evolution of French cinema is just as apparant in French title sequence.
The current generation of French title designers, such as Deubal and Laurent Brett are well aware of the rich history of French title design, but most of the title sequences in this collection remaon unknown outside of France, but they deserve a broader audience.
