The film Ex Drummer – based on a novel by Belgian author Herman Brusselmans – tells the story about a local rock 'n' roll band from Flanders who are looking for a replacement drummer. When a well-known writer with a manipulative streak and a hidden agenda joins the band as the new drummer,  the band members find themselves sucked into a spiral of chaos and violence.

The long intro of Ex Drummer, including the title sequence, is played backwards. The titles appear in consecutive scenes as text on street signs, on a bus, and on a shop window. The names of the actors are written literally all over their faces. The voice-over offers background stories on the film's main characters.

This is a title sequence that puts the audience straight into the film, without delay, in accordance with the direct, down-and-dirty, rock 'n' roll attitude of the film.
