About Laurent Brett:
Laurent Brett is a motion graphic designer from France with a huge passion for creating film titles. Brett spent two years on a general communication school, which sparked an interest in video editing. He gradually rolled into the business of title sequence design mainly from working as a post-production supervisor, editor and motion graphic designer on music videos and commercials in the 1990’s. Now, Brett’s focus is primarily on designing film and TV titles.
In an email, Laurent Brett explains how he got involved in title design: “Ever since I started doing graphics on personal computers – about eight years go – I’ve been interested in title design. But even before that, I was a fan of the Bond intros and French comedy titles from the sixties. I want to do only title design today, because it’s what I like best. It’s the perfect mix between graphics and movies. But it’s not easy in France, because the titles culture was only reborn a few years ago and they have enough talented motion graphic designers in the USA to call the French guy!”
"In general, I'm more inspired by print than by motion graphic design. From a young age I was fascinated by artwork on record sleeves and music videos. I wanted to work in this field but I didn’t know how to get there. This was in the 1990s. It wasn't easy at this time. All I know now, I learned myself, from spending time with talented graphic artists, compositors and editors."
